An iPhone has no specific iphone file browser. Its users have to rely on a
variety of applications to locate the files that are stored in the phone. The
iPhone has no Finder app-that can be used to display files and folders as in
the case of a desktop computer. The average user of an iPhone will have to hunt
these files using the
following techniques:• Finding files using the app used to create the file
In an iPhone the files are usually stored insider a folder that relates to the app. This is different and foreign to most users as in a Mac, the documents are stored in groups for example Documents.
When you open any app in an iPhone you can access the recently viewed and saved files for the app. The names are by default arranged according to date but you can change this by tapping at the Name button on the top right to change to alphabetical arrangement. You can also search for a particular file by tapping on the top in the search Document box, this is in the case where you have hundreds of documents.
• Using iCloud Drive
When a file is created by an application, it is stored in a folder that has a similar name as the application. The folder is stored in iCloud, which is Apple’s cloud storage device.
You can also consider installing an application such as Documents. The app enables the user to access the files that have been are in iCloud Drive. The app also allows the user to copy and move the files around as he desires.
Another method is by connecting your iPhone to a computer. When it is connected you can browse files easily and transfer them back and forth.
• Locating pictures-Camera Roll
If you are trying to locate a particular file that was captured using the iPhone, the file can be found in the Photos application. To locate it, open the Photos application and you can access all the images that has been captured by the device. If the iCloud Photo Drive is turned on, all the pictures from all your devices will be displayed.
• Using Spotlight to locate files
Spotlight is like an iphone file browser only that it is limited to files such as videos, music and podcasts. The following is a guide on how to locate files in an iPhone by using Spotlight:
1. Navigate to your Home Screen by pressing the Home Button only once.
2. For the search window of Spotlight to appear, gently slide your finger to middle part of the screen.
3. Using the keyboard, enter the file name of the file that you want to locate.
4. As you type in the filename, the results will be instant and at times you don’t need to tap the Search command as the file will probably be listed.
The results of the search appear from videos, mail and music apps. The results can also include Messages, Contacts, Notes and other apps. To limit the Spotlight’s results just go to Settings and open General Spotlight Search. Any files that cannot be located by Spotlight are saved inside apps. To open these files you will have to open the apps.
